Many of us at some point in our lives have struggled with self-worth. Despite the lies of Satan, our heavenly Father highly values us. This sermon is intended to encourage and boost your esteem in Christ Jesus.

Some people don’t value themselves. Some people don’t realize they don’t value themselves as much as they should. Here are a few signs you or someone you know believes they are worth very little:

  • They feel God will discard them at any moment because of their failures
  • They feel God won’t take care of their needs if they step out on faith
  • They often tolerate unhealthy people and situations
  • They often tolerate different forms of abuse or misuse
  • They often accept low quality; and settle for less when they can and should get more

If this is you or someone you know, living in fear, defeat, and believing you have to accept your circumstances because of (insert your excuses here) may not be the will of God for your life. If you discover that God wants better for you, these excuses are nothing but a subconscious deception designed to mask the lie that you are worth very little.

Obviously, Satan, the enemy of mankind, plants these lies. Most often, he used a parent or a circumstance when we were young. Without someone to tell us the truth, the lie grew and produced bad fruit.

But thankfully, our God highly values us. If we listen to him, we’ll be set free. God is comforting us through the Bible. If we allow his words to rest in our souls, life will be much better.

Some of us already know how much God values us, but we still need to be reminded, if not for ourselves, for someone else. Please share this with other saints you know.

God values you more than you know

The following passages reveal how much God sees us as priceless:

Romans 5:8 (NLT)

God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

If God planned to make the ultimate sacrifice for you before you ever accepted him, why then, now that you’re his child, would he be so quick to discard you because of your failures. He’s not. God is patient and will be with you until the end if you continue to walk with him. He didn’t save you just to discard you so quickly. You are highly valuable.

Matthew 6:26, 33 (NLT)

26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Isaiah 49:15 (NLT)

Can a mother forget her nursing child? Can she feel no love for the child she has borne? But even if that were possible, I would not forget you! Low value thinking leads us to put up with slavery to men.

Is God calling you to make a move in faith that will bring you out of your comfort zone? You may fear your needs won’t be met. But why would your father let you starve, go without proper clothing, and shelter. He wouldn’t. He knows your needs. He takes care of every animal on earth. Isn’t the children of God much more valuable than animals?

1 Corinthians 7:23 (NLT)

23 God paid a high price for you, so don’t be enslaved by the world [or slaves to men or people].

Once you know your value, you must stop being slaves to the world and become servants of God. Jesus said, “…My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” (Mathew 11:7). No longer do you need to tolerate unhealthy situations and people or abuse and misuse. No longer do you need to settle for less. You are highly valuable.

When we accept what God has said about us, we can be free and fulfill his will in our lives.
