All God requires is humility, honesty, and faith in him. His Holy Spirit will insure you achieve the goal of godly character and glorification.

Godly maturity is what success in the kingdom of God looks like. The book of Romans outlines the goals of our Father:

29 For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. (Romans 8:29-30 NLT)

You’ll achieve success in God’s kingdom if you keep your faith in God, and remain humble and honest. Here’s how the formula works:

1. Faith

It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him (Hebrews 11:6 NLT).

2. Humility

1 The disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” 2 Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. 3 Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. 4 So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 18:1-4 NLT).

Book: Pride is the problem

3. Honesty

5 This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 6 So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.

7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.

9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts (1 John 1:5-10 NLT).

Notice I didn’t mention the following things to win: abstain from sin, love, ‎prayer, ‎fasting, ‎bible study, or ‎fellowship. That’s because these are all natural practices that will incur from being humble, honest, and obedient. And with his Spirit, you’ll receive power to do all that’s necessary to win in God’s kingdom.

Climbing the latter to success in the world can be exhausting, painful, and burdensome, but winning in the kingdom is a lot easier because Christ is actively helping you. Jesus said it plainly:

28 Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light” (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT).

While you may not be successful in the eyes of the world, you will be in God’s kingdom; and that’s all that matters.
