3 Lies told about Manhood #1
LIE #1A - Your masculinity is tied to your ability to compete with other men and win in the areas of the mind (knowledge and educational status).
This lie leads to
- Pride, boasting and arrogance
- Disrespect for others (no love)
- Esteem connected to educational status
- Depression, feeling stupid and/or less than
Common sense truth:
Education is important. A diploma, GED and/or degree allows you to function in society and get the job or career that you want, but possessing more knowledge than another male in your circle doesn’t make you better, nor does it prove your level of masculinity.
The devil has a destructive definition of a man, while God has the correct definition. Unfortunately, this whole world lies in the power of the wicked One, so his lies are the first we believe. Then we are born again, are minds our renewed, and we learn the truth.
God’s truth:
All wisdom and knowledge comes from the Lord, no one can brag, if you brag you hurt yourself. If you boast and are proud you show that you have no wisdom or love and the Lord hates you: Proverbs 2:6-8; 9:12 CEV; 1 Cor 13:4.
- Pride blocks a relationship with God: Proverbs 3:7; 6:16-17; 8:13
- Pride eliminates your ability to understand scripture properly: James 4:6
- The devil has his own form of wisdom: James 3:15
Finally, manhood is humble, doesn’t brag or disrespect others. A real man acknowledges that all his knowledge and wisdom comes from God and he shouldn’t lean to his own understanding (Pro 3:5-6).

This is every man’s battle. This is a war. This has shown me there are still some SELF hanging on fighting against God. We are to be crucified with Christ and the life we live we no longer live for ourselves but we live it for Him. If we truly get that, this one upping each other and trying to gain advantage over any other man will disappear. Praise God, to Him all the glory.
I was thinking over my testimony and what God has doe for me when I came across your site. This was a weight that I lived under for years even after coming to faith. God delivered me from believing that the number of girls I slept with, the stuff, or amount of education made me a man. He whom the Son sets free is free INDEED! Thanks bro, keep sharing.
