These three self-deceiving statements are voiced by the proud at heart. Have you believed these statements about yourself?
- I am good enough.
- I am not that bad.
- I am better than them.
The above statements are all self-deception—snares, and if not removed, will get us rejected from heaven.
Jesus said NO ONE is good but God (Luke 18:19). And God never compares us to another as the criteria for eternal life (Acts 10:34). God judges us based off his perfect law and whether or not we allowed Jesus to change us into his perfect image (Romans 8:29).
This allotted time down here is for sanctification and cleansing of the soul so we can commune and spend time with God for all eternity (Titus 2:11-12). How are we going to get along with Jesus in Heaven when we’re proud, liars, lazy, selfish and so forth.
We have to acknowledge the filth in our souls and take it to Jesus, to refuse to is pride. It’s not about outer works and thinking we’re OK with God just because we left the false church, we have to come higher.
