The kingdom provides healing in all areas. Christ has compassion for the sick, he wants to heal them, but he can’t intervene if we are faithless and self-destructive.

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul” (3 John 1:2). The kingdom of God provides healing in three areas:

  1. Healing from sin (Matt 13:15, 1 Peter 2:24).
  2. Healing from physical issues.
  3. Healing from spiritual issues (Luke 4:18). Ex: bruises on the soul, demonic.

It’s healing of “physical issues” that I want to cover in this podcast. Jesus was able to heal anything:

Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all (Matt 4:23-24 NLT).

God desires that you be healed. Luke 5:12-13 says:

In one of the villages, Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground, begging to be healed. “Lord,” he said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared (Luke 5:12-13 NLT).

How do we receive healing today?

We receive healing through our faith in God and caring for our bodies through his instruction.

1. Have faith in God’s ability to heal anything

Faith is the underlining force. Without faith that God can heal us, we can’t receive healing. Here are the scriptures we covered: Matthew 8:5-13; Matthew 9:2, 22, 23-30.

2. Respecting and caring for God’s temple

Some of us don’t care for our bodies because of ignorance, and emotional ties to food. We also think our bodies belong to us. We must care for our bodies and allow God to educate us on how to be healthy.

Gluttony, unhealthy food, and high-risk activities will destroy our bodies. Once you enter the kingdom of God, he will deal with every part of your being including your diet.

Here are the scriptures we covered: 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 1 Corinthians 10:31, Leviticus 11:1-47, Deuteronomy 14:8, Proverbs 23:20-21, Daniel 1:8, Daniel 1:15.

If you want to be healthy, let the Holy Spirit guide you to what foods to eat, and most importantly, have faith in God’s ability to heal you.

Next time, we’ll talk about when healing doesn’t come, and later, receiving spiritual healing from spiritual abuses and demonic possession.

  1. What food are we supposed to eat for example shrimps, lobster, bacon? This is an area that I battle with a lot because it was in the,Old Testament but we the New Testament are we allowed.
    What about wine?

    1. The leading of God’s Spirit and his wisdom will help you eat the right foods. Use Leviticus chapter 11 and Google to start your research.

I would say, generally, eat whole, fresh, non-GMO fruits, beans, grains, and vegetables; and naturally raised beef, chicken, and wild caught fish.

For water, go with distilled and/or reversed osmosis. Tab water has additives in it that are unhealthy. Only drink 100% fruit juice. Anything less than 100% juice will have refined sugar and other crap in it.

Stay away from refined sugar or keep it at a bare minimum. Refined white sugar is the reason for a lot of sicknesses. Substitutes are raw honey, 100% maple syrup, and dates.

As far as wine goes, there’s nothing wrong with “drinking.” God’s problem with it is when you abuse it. Jesus turned water into wine and Paul instructed Timothy to drink wine to calm his stomach issues.

Overall, these are generals. You have to be led by the Spirit. Tell God that you want to honor him in your body and ask him to show you what foods to eat and avoid. He’ll help you as he does my family and I.

Everyone’s food pallet is not the same, you have to go with what God leads and permits you to eat.

    2. The scripture in the New Testament that seems to suggest that God now allows foods that were once deemed unclean to be clean is not what he was referring to. Acts 10:28 explains this:

“Peter told them, ‘You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean'” (Acts 10:28).

  2. So we cannot eat right? How do I tell my 8 years that her love of ham sandwiches to take to school for lunch has to stop?

    1. Precious,
You act like ham is the only food available. Your child will eat whatever you give her. I suspect this is more about your diet.

We can all eat right. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Phil 4:13). He doesn’t tell us to do something he won’t empower us to do.

Anytime people want to persist in eating foods God said was toxic, they have an emotional attachment to them and that alone is unhealthy; on top of the fact the food itself is slowly killing them. You should ask God to break the yolk of bondage to any food, and he will.

Do you want to respect God and honor him in your body? Do you want to live longer, with more energy, and with less food related suffering? If yes, these are the reasons you need to change your diet; and this is what you tell your daughter.

Ask God to help you please him and he will. Changing your diet isn't something he expects you to do alone. Diet is a stronghold for many, but Jesus saves.
